Kids Meditation Classes!

Just for the kids! Summer Meditation Classes!

These classes teach children how to meditate as they center, ground, focus, and calm themselves.

The 5 week summer sessions will provide a progressive curriculum for children to learn more, improve their meditation skills, and practice other self-awareness tools.

Studies show there are many benefits to meditation for kids. Here are some further foundational life skills children can learn and gain:

  • Self-soothing and falling asleep faster (and having a better night’s rest).

  • Increase in self-confidence and the ability to cope with stress and challenging moments.

  • Being able to deal with restlessness and boredom, and intuiting what activity they could do next.

  • Increase in focus and attention, positive intentionality, and goal setting.

  • Decrease in anxiety and insecurity, as well as depression.

  • Increased ability to resolve conflict and have compassion for others, and themselves.

  • Diminishing distractions and experiencing more self-control.

  • Understanding their emotions and learning to process emotions more easily.

  • Connection to intuition and self-regulating based upon what they need.

Kids Meditation Summer Classes are currently being offered separately for children:

  • Ages 7 to 9

  • Ages 10 to 12

(*Additional classes for younger children and/or teens are likely to be added in the months to come. If you have a child younger or older than 7 to 12 who would like to participate, send me a message at the bottom of this page.)

Classes are one hour long via Zoom, however most kids report that it feels like class lasts a fraction of that time!

FAQs:

  • Do parents (and/or guardians) join their children during meditation class?

These classes are just for the kiddos. You are of course welcome to be nearby if need be. If you feel more comfortable being in the close vicinity, it will be additionally supportive for children to have as little noise and/or movement distraction as possible during meditation time.

Family Meditation Classes are being planned for in the near future as well! These classes will have parents or guardians and children participating together. The whole family can learn some of the same cool techniques (they are just as effective for adults), and it’s fun for kids to show their parents/guardians what they have learned. So stay tuned for that.

If you have further questions about your child’s participation, please feel welcome to send me a message below.

  • What will they learn?

Simple meditation techniques specially oriented for kids to ground, center, calm and focus their systems, understanding of breathing through and having compassion for emotions, as well as creation of positive affirmative statements to encourage them and give them confidence.

The curriculum will not include additional belief systems. This space honors all spiritual traditions and the content provided in courses for adults is not included in the children’s meditation classes. If your child has any significant questions on spirituality, their curiosity will be supported, however questions won’t be answered with specifics. What you want to teach them as a parent is supported, and if it is desired, I am happy to offer some time with you and them so you can participate in answering their questions.

If you have further questions about the specifics of the exercises or curriculum, please feel welcome to send me a message below.

  • What do we need for this class?

  • You will be sent a helpful list of information after registration (including zoom login information).

  • They will also need to have a video-enabled device with good internet service, and access to zoom either through the app or online.

  • Again, it will be most helpful for your child to have a quiet place, free from distractions to experience our class. Children who experience little to no distractions often feel the meditation goes by in a fraction of the time.

  • Will there be more classes offered after this?

Yes! The plan is to offer them continuously in the months to come, with new curriculum being added progressively as they continue to move forward.

  • What if my child needs to miss a class?

Not a problem :) Although the curriculum is progressive, the content is helpfully repeated as needed in a supportive way. If and when another 5 week session is being offered in the future, your child is also welcome to join whatever class was missed in the future session.
